Do not seek praise. Seek Criticism.
Approval is comforting. We all know that. Get out of your comfort zone. We are most likely to ask for approval on something we have done, and more likely to ask people we know will give us the answer we want to hear. After asking for approval, you will probably feel great about what you have done, especially because others have said so. It is that reassurance that makes us feel better. That’s good, but its not great. Instead of seeking approval, start asking “What is wrong with it?” “How can I make it better?” You are more likely to get a truthful answer and that answer can make it GREAT. You can make your work even better. Even greater! No matter what is it! Not only that, you can accept or reject the criticism. This will make you even more confident in what you are doing.
Bottom Line: Criticism will help you. Accept it or Reject it, but ASK FOR IT.
